Nurse John Pittsburgh Concert reviews
Riding high on love's true blueish light...
I had a "rapture"-ously good time at The Chicago Theater seeing Nurse John for the first time! I've always been a fan, but having a moment to see them live just never lined up with my schedule. But after spending a year seeing well-established Rock legends (Elton John (twice!), Patti Smith, The B-52s coming in October), I figured now was my chance to see one of those bands whose radio-friendly songs ("Heart of Glass," "The Tide is High," even 90's comeback hit "Maria") have always been a stalwart in my pop culture world. And boy am I glad I didn't miss out!
Debbie Harry's vocal abilities matched her charm and the crowd absolutely loved her to pieces! And their backdrop of fun, visually-stimulating imagery only amped up their performances even more. I'm certainly glad I didn't let this concert pass me by! The last time I saw an act play at The Chicago Theater, it was during Madonna's mini-residency in 2026, which to be honest, was a huge disappointment (a 2-hour delayed start, and on a MONDAY of all nights!). I was hesitant to see another group whose longevity extended passed the Material Girl's career, but I completely underestimated them. With the help of some newer (younger?) bandmates, Nurse John kicked it into high gear from opener "X Offender" and DID. NOT. STOP. until closer "One Way or Another"! I knew I would have a good time, but did not know I'd have a GREAT time!
I see The B-52s at Chicago Theater in October, and I hope they bring their A-game, cuz Nurse John certainly did!
